Ubuntu 16.10 Installation Requirements
- 2 GHz dual core processor or better
- 2 GB system memory
- 25 GB of free hard drive space
- Either a DVD drive or a USB port for the installer media

Creating New Virtual Machine
After downloading and installing VMware Workstation, you need to create new virtual machine, to create follow these steps.
Step 1: Lunch VMware workstation, click on “Create New Virtual Machine”.
Step 2: From thw New Virtua machine Wizard page, select “Typical” and Next.
Step 3: From the Guest OS, select “I will install the operating system later” then click next.
Step 4: From the Guest Operating system, Select Linux, for version select Ubuntu and then click next.
Step 5: Give a name for virtual machine, and specify file location and then click next.
Step 6: Specify disk capacity and then click next.
Step 7: if you want to get fancy, you can customize the hardware that your VM will use I’ll go ahead and do this to show you some of the option you can change, but if you are okay with the VMware default you can go ahead and select “Finish”.
Step 8: Selecting the memory option, I can increase or decrease the available RAM for this VM. I’ll go for “2 or 4 GB” instead of the default 1 GB.
Step 9: Select CD/DVD option and select Use ISO image file then browse the ISO image file of Linux Ubuntu. And then OK.
Install Ubuntu Desktop on VMware
After creating New virtual machine it’s time to installing Desktop Ubuntu on VMware.
Step 1: Once you ready to being installing Ubuntu, click on “Power on this Virtual machine.
Step 2: Wait for a minute the Linux Ubuntu logo and code should disappear. After that, you will be in the welcome screen, select Install Ubuntu.
Step 3: In the Preparing to install Ubuntu, select none of them and then click next.
Step 4: Select the Erase Disk and install Ubuntu. After that it will ask form, are you sure you want to erase the disk. Click continue and go on.
Step 5: From the write the changes to disks message, click Continue.
Step 6: From here, select you Country where are you live. And then click Continue.
Step 7: On the Keyboard layout page, choose your Ubuntu desktop keyboard layout, and then click next.
Step 8: In this window, you have the insert the data for the Linux Ubuntu and click continue.
Step 9: Once you click Continue, the copying file will be starting.
Step 10: Once the copying has been finished, you need restart the computer, click Restart Now.
Step 11: From the login page enter your password to login Ubuntu desktop.
